What We Do
It’s heartbreaking when you read the stats on people having to give up their pets because they simply cannot feed them anymore. People who have fallen on hard times who are struggling to feed themselves and their family, often using food from a food bank to feed their pets which is meant for them or when there is no other option, having to give their pet up to an animal shelter.
Whilst there is some support locally for pet food supplies, we think there should be a lot more. The Pet Food Project has been created to help the current support infrastructure for pets needing food and also open up new ways for people to easily donate either pet food supplies or money donations to purchase supplies.
Newly formed in 2023 we are still very much at the starting stage, but have plans to network and grow, and get food supplies directly into the people that need it.
We’re a not for profit community interest company. Every single donation goes directly to the cause.
Our Goals

Food Banks
We want to help with a consistent supply of pet food into local food banks. People who are already getting help with food supplies will also have an option to collect pet food to keep their pets healthy and in a loving home.
Animal Shelters
We want to help local animal shelters around Wirral & Liverpool, supporting them with consistent supplies of pet food to help keep running their essential services.
Raise Awareness
We will be doing our very best to raise the awareness of the need to help the local support in place to feed pets in difficult environments.
Pet Food Distribution
Making sure all of our pet food donations (direct and purchased with money donations) go to the most needed food banks and animal shelters across Wirral and Liverpool
How To Help
With your support we can help feed pets across the region and also take some of the strain from the food banks and animal shelters that provide an essential service.
What we need:
- We need pet food pouches or tins
- We need pet dried biscuits (boxes or bags)
- We need money donations to purchase pet food supplies. Donate via the website or our Crowdfunder page.
- Business locations across Wirral & Liverpool to place donation bin drop points
